Description

Oil-filled distribution transformers are transformers that change input and output voltages at desired rates up to 36 kV voltage level and 5000 kVa power, and the heat generated during operation is removed by transformer oil and cooling is provided by transformer oil so that it does not exceed the permissible operating temperature. This type of transformers can be examined under 2 (two) main headings: hermetic and expansion tank:

Hermetic Oil Type Distribution Transformers

They are produced in the power range of 25 – 5000 kVA, up to 36 kV high voltage level, three or single phase, with oil, natural cooling (ONAN), with idle tap changer or automatic tap changer under load, and can be used both outdoors and indoors. Hermetic oil type distribution transformers are manufactured by filling oil under vacuum, balancing the oil pressure and atmospheric pressure at the desired temperature, and ensuring that the cooling oil does not come into contact with the atmosphere.

In hermetic oil type distribution transformers, internal heat as a result of changing oil pressure due to thermal changes is controlled by the natural expansion and contraction of the boiler wave walls. Mechanical design and manufacturing are done to withstand these effects.

Hermetic oil type distribution transformers have lower heights than transformers with expansion tanks. Therefore, it can be used in smaller areas.
Since the oil in hermetic transformers does not come into contact with the atmosphere, it does not require oil change in certain periods, as in transformers with expansion tanks.

Transformer with Expansion Tank

Transformers with expansion tanks are the same as hermetic transformers with their core and coil structure. The dimensions of the expansion tanks of this type of transformers are designed and manufactured as a result of calculations to store the expansion of the oil, whose volume increases with temperature.

Since transformers with expansion tanks are open to the atmosphere, oil pressure changing due to thermal effects is dehumidified and air exchange is ensured by the silicagel (air dryer) in the transformer tank.

The transformer with expansion tank that is put into operation loses its silicagel feature over time as a result of air exchange caused by temperature differences depending on the load, causing the oil to become moist and its structure to deteriorate. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out maintenance such as changing silicagel at certain periods and measuring the breakdown voltage by taking samples from the oil.

At Aypars Energy, you can procure transformers with powers between 50 kVA – 2500 kVA from stock, quickly and economically.
